@anonymous...i know those are lyrics in a song (one of the Tagore songs, aka Rabindra Sangeet). they're typically melancholy in tone. i'm not sure when one would use that phrase, though it strikes me as something that has a touch of sadness (could be a good sadness [e.g. missing a loved one]) but is uplifting all the same...
thanks to you both, much appreciated. Sorry to soil your blog with typos Sonia. I promise not to post from the diminutive keyboard of my ipod anymore:(
regarding typos, no worries at all! though i do think we should be meticulous about the written and spoken language (it's being lost these days). . . i find this song to be an utterly optimistic one of enjoying each experience and moment that life brings us, and welcoming them. although rabindra sangeet resonates richly with tones of melancholy and solemnity as does most of tagore's other works, it still seems to have strong implications of courage and abandon that's rare in contemporary music.

Is this phrase customarily used in good times of bad?
definitely optimistic, i would say.
