what is happening right now is exactly what should be happening right now. what has happened in the past is exactly what should have happened in the past. what will transpire in the future is exactly what should.
c'est la vie. c'est la vie. c'est la vie.

c'est la vie...
que sera sera...
which is more aesthetically attractive? and which is more meaningful to you personally?
(and for the purposes of this exercise try to put aside your personal affection for the french language)..
my 2 pesos...
if we were literal... c'est la vie means 'it is the life' (that's life), no? and que sera sera (qss) means 'what will be, will be'...
qss has a fatalistic quality to it. as if life is out of one's control and we should be resigned to it, good and bad.
and c'est la vie has more of the existential quality. an acknowledgment of the absurdity of it all.
but i think que sera sera has a lovely rhythm to it..

#2,
welcome back.
in regards to your musings, i prefer c'est la vie although i agree on your interpretations of the two phrases. i'm a bit biased to qss as well, as my mom used to sing it to us when we were little. it was one of our favorite and highly requested songs for her to sing to us.
speaking of interpretations, will you ever divulge the story behind your psuedo-name? i'm assuming it has literary connotations, no?
and speaking of stories, what's yours? you've read so many of mine. your turn.
that's funny...my father sang que sera sera. not to me, but to himself (he often sings to himself, even today). i suspect my father is the reason i favor qss over c'est la vie. he loved doris day, and there was a particular hitchcock movie where doris day sang that tune.
i don't remember why i picked #2 as my handle. i think there was another anonymous commenter, and i wanted to remain technically anonymous, but also identifiable for the sake of transparency (well, relative transparency). some way to be marked aside from my characteristic lack of capital letters and my quick-typing typos (e.g. alright vs. all right).
alas, how does it matter? you know my ip address, privacy-hater... :P
what's my story? in short,
boy meets world. boy falls in love with world. boy's time is occupied with: hospital work, writing papers, studying for standardized exams, patients, writing & reading (in that order), relishing small pleasures. to be continued...
